There are a lot of "format jocks" these days -- who are like radio stations, playing the same kind of music every day around the clock. We know this must be the case because the second most common question people ask is, "What kind of music do you play?" Some "format jocks" are part-time radio DJs, who naturally tend to mirror the format of the station where they work. Other DJs play only what they personally enjoy. Still others may have built their music habits from working in a club, playing to the same crowd week after week. Such specialization isn't altogether bad -- particularly if these DJs are only working a couple of nights a month, or have little experience with varied audiencees. In that case, it's probably best for them to stick to what they're good at. They're fine if you want just one flavor of music at your party.

"Good DJs" adapt the personality of the music they play to suit any crowd. But a real pro can also adjust his overall presentation to suit the decorum of the event and people he's playing for. ALsMUSIC is not a one-size-fits-all kind of DJ company. Unlike the the fast-food DJs who seem to be everywhere these days, we don't play the same show night after night. Our events range from grade-school to retirement parties, weddings to corporate functions. What we're doing makes a LOT of difference in what we do and how we do it.

So, what do you like?

Most of the events that use DJ entertainment fall into either of two broad categories, primarily -- but not completely--based on age. (For those of you who are wondering, I've found that "young people" generally begin their metamorphosis into "old people" around the time they get married and/or start their first "real" full-time job.) Our approach to each type is best discussed separately.
